Where did 2021 go? They say life moves faster as we age. If the years continue to get faster, I am scared to blink. The past year has been a whirlwind of high school graduation, new college, new high school activities, work accomplishments, family trips and reconnecting with friends.

Schenkelberg Investments has enjoyed strong growth in 2021, finishing the year with these key statistics:

  • $29.0 million in assets
  • 145 accounts
  • 57 client relationships
  • Average account value of $201,305

New clients, in addition to strong investment returns, helped propel asset growth in 2021. It is a joy to see clients moving closer to their long-term financial goals. For everyone there is a constant balancing act of financial saving and enjoying life with the resources we all work so hard to earn. The proper balance of saving and spending is different for every client, and can change over time.

As Schenkelberg Investments grow, it is also a balancing act of supporting clients through financial planning and investment management while managing the operations and technical aspects of a business. Not to mention the constant work/life balancing act of juggling when family is in the mix. To help with this balancing act, I have made two major additions: a business coach and a part-time employee.

Business Coach

Working with a business coach has been extremely beneficial. I am amazed to think about the challenges we discussed when first working together and how these challenges have been overcome. Growth can be a little scary. However, with Heather’s help, it has been much easier to embrace new clients and envision a way to make sure client needs can be met while keeping the business operating securely and efficiently.

Key items she has helped me implement include those that have helped improve service for clients, enhanced operations and benefited my family life. For example,

  • An improved process for client reviews that includes a more professional, comprehensive report and streamlined process for creation.
  • Re-evaluating my schedule to more intentionally plan time around compliance, accounting and investment functions.
  • Setting priorities to understand what is necessary to fuel personal relationships.

Part-Time Employee

Hiring a part-time intern has also been a huge step in maintaining quality of service during growth. Michela has been extremely helpful with ongoing processes and maintenance, as well as some key projects. A couple of key projects that Michela is currently working on to enhance client experience include:

  • Implementing a Customer Relationship Management System. This system will help coordinate efforts to take care of clients and manage follow-up items.
  • Updating the web-site: www.schenkelberg.investmets. These updates will offer more resources for current and potential clients to help monitor financial assets and enhance the availability of current information.

It is very exciting to see these developments begin to take shape. I can’t wait to introduce you to additional value that Schenkelberg Investments can offer. If you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to share.
